Circl — People-First Social Space

Circl is a mobile-first social space designed to put people first — built for genuine connection, community, and conversation without the pressure or performative culture of traditional social media. The app is built natively in SwiftUI for iOS 26 and newer, with a Progressive Web App (PWA) fallback for Android and earlier iOS devices. Focused entirely on mobile, Circl blends calm visuals and intentional interaction to support a healthier way to stay connected.

Purpose & Vision

Circl was created to re-imagine how communities connect digitally — less performance, more presence. The goal is to provide a space where users can share updates, support one another, and gather in groups without distractions or pressure. Every design choice — from the gentle color palette to the minimal interface — was made to support clarity, belonging, and calm. Circl is the rebranded evolution of Rooted, refined with a clearer, people-first focus.

Process & Design Approach

The project began with research into what people actually need from community spaces online, followed by rapid prototyping and iteration. After usability testing, the experience was rebuilt in SwiftUI and a PWA fallback, ensuring smooth onboarding, accessible typography, and a grounded user journey that prioritizes clarity and trust.
